Code freeze on trunk (CMS7.8 FCS)

Junaidh Sheriff
Dear All,

As you know, the new major release of Hippo CMS 7.8 FCS is scheduled in early December, we are now approaching regression test phase, which also means we are entering "Code freeze" phase.

We request you to commit your pending changes ASAP, starting tomorrow 7th Wednesday 2012 developers outside R&D should not commit on trunk, if any discuss with Stephan Westen.

In the process of committing changes please do not make haste as we've experienced insidious bugs on such occasions. Please go through your changes thoroughly before making the commit.

Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Junaid K

Hi,

was creating a branch for 7.8 evaluated?
That way developers can still commit on trunk if they want.

Cheers,

Jeroen

Yes, there are a few issues with this.
- it is not just one branch but a bunch (for each artifact)
- we would have to commit a lot issues to trunk and branch, making sure we don't miss on one
- our current infrastructure (read test server) is aimed at the trunk.

My aim is to branch after the tagging. Scheduled for 23th Nov. This is still under discussion.

Note that we have the policy in place to commit on the 7.7 branch and forward port later on.

Re: Code freeze on trunk (CMS7.8 FCS)

Junaidh Sheriff
Please note that trunk is still on 7.8.xx version (maintenance mode), so please do not commit any new features.
We shall make a separate announcement when we branch 7.8.xx and make 7.9.xx trunk available.

Regards,
Junaid K
