Problem with the port setting

ec@hippo
Hi All,

just noticed a problem, and I don't know if it's a known one.

I'm trying to run 2 local dev instances side by side; from within the IDE I configured them to use different http and rmi ports and they do boot all right. I have problems inside the CMS though: the Js magic that pops up the context menu in the document tree view doesn't work any more on the instance configured to run on the unusual port (9090.)

I tried changing the hst:cmslocaltion and hst:defaultport in  /hst:hst/hst:hosts/dev-localhost but this doesn't help (actually, it makes sense: these are hst:* props under the hst:hst configuration node)

Where is the equivalent setting for the CMS hiding?

Best,
Edoardo

I think you're looking for
/hippo:configuration/hippo:frontend/cms/cms-services/hstRestProxyService

Kind regards,

Did you look at [1]

Through [1] you get an overview of troubleshooting pages. From there,
you can see [2]. That page frequently helps. If your use-case is not
described there, I'd love to add it (once you've figured out the
solution :-). Thanks in advance

Hi Bartosz,

that was it, thanks!

It's a bit cumbersome to set this every time, is it possible to override it from the commandline?

@All : In general, the documentation will improve if you all help with
it. Please look beyond solving your own problem only. The larger we
are growing, the more devs we have at Hippo and the more devs in the
world working with our stack, the more important documentation will
become to avoid a flood of questions. I really hope that everybody,
and certainly non-R&D devs (because they have the advantage of not
having the cocoonish horse view we at R&D have), helps with this!

For now just dropping a mail if you see incorrect, outdated
documentation, or if you have something to add.

Worked out use cases are also very very welcome!

Re: Problem with the port setting

Hi Ard,

I'll go back to it ASAP (probably Friday.) I'd create a troubheshooting page on the subject "stuff that breaks when you change the network settings, such as TCP port or IP address"

Best,
Edoardo

Great Edoardo, you can't imagine how happy I become with this kind of
'working in the field experience' documentation....

@Everybody : you can see this as an open invitation from me to all of
you trying to get our product better. (note our product is OneHippo,
not what is in svn : That is open source and free for everybody).
Documentation will become more and more important and is an essential
part of our product
