Setting up document type in non-existing folders

Asmann, Roland
Hi,

I just read [1] and feel this is something I need, however I have a
problem that the folders I want to put constraints on don't exist yet...

I have a structure like this:

<Root>
   |- Home
   |    |- News
   |    |- Release Notes
   |         |- <Product>
   |- Documents

The thing is, that I want some people here to be able to create a new
folder for their product under 'Release Notes', but at the same time I
want the new directory to only contain documents of type
'releasenote'... Is this possible?

Thank you.

Re: Setting up document type in non-existing folders

Mathijs den Burger
Hi Roland,

Yes this is possible. You simply have to create a second custom query for creating a new folder:

1. In /hippo:configuration/hippo:queries/hippo:templates, copy the node 'new-folder' to, say, 'new-releasenote-folder'
2. In the new-releasenote-folder node, change the property 'jcr:statement' to

    /jcr:root/hippo:configuration/hippo:queries/hippo:templates/new-releasenote-folder/hippostd:templates/node()

3. In the child node hippostd:templates/hippostd:folder, change the property 'hippostd:foldertype' to the values 'new-releasenote' and 'new-releasenote-folder'
4. In your content tree, change the property 'hippostd:foldertype' of the node '<Root>/Home/Release Notes' to values ''new-releasenote' and 'new-releasenote-folder'

In your folder 'Release Notes' you should now only be able to create releasenote documents and subfolders with the same restriction.

best,
-Mathijs

Asmann, Roland
In reply to this post by Mathijs den Burger
Cool, that did the trick!

Another question, is it possible to permit only a certain number of
document-types in a folder?
We would like to have 1 document of type 'index' with a description in
the release-notes folder, and after that only allow documents of type
'releasenote'.

Thanks.

For some reason my icons have changed into the 'add-document' icons on
these new folders... Why is that?

Not sure about the number, but a nice way to do this requirement is
the following:
- extend the prototype of the release-notes folder, so it
automatically creates the index file along with the folder. Then you
can limit the new documents type in the folder to only releasenote
type.

If you need help, let me know.

Re: Setting up document type in non-existing folders

Mathijs den Burger
Hi Roland,

When a new folder is created with a custom query like 'new-releasenote-folder', the JCR node

  /hippo:configuration/hippo:queries/hippo:templates/new-releasenote-folder/hippostd:templates/hippostd:folder

is actually copied as the new folder. Everything under this node will therefore be copied as well. The trick is to create the node structure there that represents a new 'index' document, so it will be copied into each created folder. The easiest is probably to first create a new index document in the CMS (e.g. in /content/documents/yourproject), locate the JCR node structure of the document in the console (e.g. /content/documents/yourproject/index) and copy that to the query folder node.

best,
-Mathijs

Thanks!
